The big discussion after getting to Zion was concerning getting to Bryce Canyon. I hear it's beautiful. That's what it looked like when we got there. Shawn was cute. She kept telling us, "Oh, you guys, there really isn't much out there beyond what you see right here. Really." Wink, wink.
It was cloudy, and cold. And you might notice the little white specks. Yep, it was snowing. And many of you know what a fan i am. Home, with a nice cup of tea and a blanket and a good book, no problem. At the top of some canyon in Utah and the prospect of having to put chains on the van? Nope. Not for me.
We checked out the lodge first. We had thought about having dinner there and then going home. That was before we headed out to the rim walk. That's where we got the picture above. For the record, we weren't the only ones out there.
There are no paved paths from the lodge to the rim. But we found one that Jack could use. We walked up a ways, and came upon a large parking lot and figured it was time to head back to the lodge. That's also about the time it really started to snow. Big.

The snow that started falling was like little tiny snowballs. And it was coming down fast. There are no pictures of it because once it started coming i just wanted to get the van and get out of there. I really don't like chaining up. Problem was we couldn't find a path Jack could use. And we couldn't see the lodge because of the clouds and the snow. We did get on a paved path, that landed us in a parking lot with a couple of buildings, both with porch covers. Parked Jack there and Shawn and i went off to find the van. Brave soul that she was, wearing her Chocos, or whatever they are called. No socks. Brrrr... she said she was fine. Found the van. Snow was dry enough that when we then found Jack he was able to just plow right through it to get into the van. Off we went. Ten minutes out of the park and we were in the clear. No chains!!! I did stop and snapped this of the van once we were in the clear for sure.
Jack says we have to go back to Bryce so we can see what it really looks like. Maybe later.
